Head of Finance (Accountant) — Nigeria

A private members’ wellness club serving senior executives, diplomats and high-net-worth individuals is seeking an experienced Head of Finance (Accountant) to lead its finance and accounting function in Maitama, Abuja.

The successful candidate will establish and oversee robust financial systems, controls and reporting processes while supporting strategic planning, regulatory compliance and informed management decision-making. This is a full-time, on-site position requiring discretion, professionalism and strong knowledge of financial operations in Nigeria.

• Lead and oversee the organisation’s finance and accounting operations.
• Develop and implement financial systems, internal controls, policies and reporting processes.
• Prepare annual budgets, financial forecasts, cash-flow projections and management reports.
• Monitor financial performance and provide strategic financial insights to management.
• Manage cash flow, banking relationships, foreign exchange transactions and international supplier payments.
• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and account reconciliations.
• Maintain accurate accounting records and ensure timely financial reporting.
• Manage tax, PAYE, pension, CAC and other statutory compliance obligations.
• Support financial planning, investment decisions and capital expenditure management.
• Identify financial risks and implement controls to safeguard company assets.
• Collaborate with management and other departments to improve efficiency and profitability.
• Build and strengthen the finance function, including its systems, controls and reporting framework.

• ICAN or ACCA professional qualification.
• At least six years of post-qualification experience.
• Minimum of two years’ experience in a senior financial controller or equivalent leadership position.
• Experience in hospitality, private clubs, healthcare, real estate or another capital-intensive industry.
• Practical experience managing foreign exchange transactions and international supplier payments from Nigeria.
• Demonstrated ability to build a finance function from the ground up.
• Strong financial modelling and accounting software skills.
• Sound knowledge of Nigerian taxation, PAYE, pension and CAC compliance requirements.
• Strong budgeting, financial planning and cash-flow management abilities.
• Excellent analytical, leadership and problem-solving skills.
• High level of discretion, integrity and professionalism.
• Ability to work on-site in Maitama, Abuja.

• Monthly salary of ₦500,000.
